The serene and untouched beauty of our very own konkan is well known to all of us. Sindhurg is known for its endless stretch of serene virgin beaches of malvan and vengurla talukas, namely- tarkarli, vayangani, bhogwe, redi, shiroda and deobagh.

Not only is the district of sindhudurg rich in greenery and culture, it is also the most upcoming tourist place and well connected to all parts of coastal region by the konkan railway project. The places of tourist attractions are the well known “sindhudurg fort, Redi ganpati mandir, the Rock gardens, and fruit forests in vengurla.

Vijaydurg, is strongest marine forts also known as the Victory Fort, is located on the western coast of India. was constructed on the hill near the mouth of the Vaghotan River. Surrounded by the sea on three sides and a ditch on the fourth side, the fort was constructed for safeguarding the kingdom from the neighbouring rulers.



Tarkarli Beach
Tarkarli Beach, is a beautiful beach on the coastal strip of the Konkan region, in Malvan Town,. The beach is located at the confluence of the Karli River and the Arabian Sea. Watersports like snorkelling and scuba diving can be enjoyed at the beach.



Sea World
The state government has approved a project to build India's first oceanarium here, or the ‘Sea World’. It will be the second major theme park in the state after Essel World, the ninth in the country, and will catapult Tondawali, vengurla to the recreation map of the country. The park is expected to be thrown open to public in three years. The key features planned are a simulated sea created along with that of a real lake and mock Antarctica. Sea World will include a dolphin stadium, Water Park, dome and 3D theatre, aquarium, amphitheatre, underwater studio, rescue centre, several themed restaurants and amusement arcades, among other things.

Chipi Airport
Very soon (proposed by 2015) we will also have an airport in the district so your dream house will be just a couple of hours away. The Greenfield project planned at Chipi, Parule in Vengurla taluka, in the southern part of Sindhudurg district aims to exploit the proximity to Goa and capture sizeable touristic traffic coming to visit konkan and north Goa.

Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden is a historic garden where one can enjoy long walks. The Vanbhojan, one of the sections of the garden, is an ideal picnic spot.

Fruit Research Centre
A visit to Vengurla is incomplete without a visit to the Konkan farming university & Fruit Research Centre. This multipurpose institute is a study centre as well as tourist spot. The R&D center specializes in remolding and creating a more efficient and strong variety of Mango and Cashew crop. Sindhu, a brand new variety of mango, was developed by the institute and is now being appreciated by the cynosure of mangoes.

The nursery run by the research centre offers a variety of saplings. The cashew factory in the vicinity displays the entire process of cashew separation, roasting and packing.

Dhamapur Lake
Dhamapur Lake is situated in Malvan Town, in the Konkan region of Sindhudurg District. Visitors to the lake can enjoy boating here. The Bhagawati Temple, located in the vicinity of the lake, is the other major attraction of this site.


Sawantwadi Palace
Sawantwadi Palace was constructed by the earliest ruling family of Maharashtra, the Khem Sawants. This palace holds displays of a vast collection of traditional lacquerware and artefacts. The set of furniture, board games, little dolls and paintings are also displayed in the museum. The walls of the palace are adorned with chitkaris. Paintings, wooden and clay artefacts and jewellery belonging to the Sawantwadi royal family, are exhibited in the palace.
